The founders of Reuzel, Leen and Bertus, learned to cut hair when they were fourteen years old. They had a penchant for barbering and digested rock n roll and started their own barbershop in Rotterdam under the name Schorem Haarsnijder. It was there that they acquired the knowledge that later gave rise to the Reuzel brand.
